Crathes Castle Parkrun - every Saturday at 09:30am, just over 4 miles (10 min drive) from Sandy's. A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you! Dogs are welcome
Saturday 23rd April, 2022 - A series of events across the weekend, including 5K, 10K, duatholon and a 15mile trail race. Events takes place across the grounds and estate of Her Majesty the Queen's private Scottish residence - Balmoral Castle.
Banchory, August 28th, 2022 - a fun run for kids in the park and a 10K and half marathon routes into Scolty Forest, with lovely views over the River Dee (if you can spare the time!).
Tour of Britain Sunday, 4th September 2022
Grand Depart - Aberdeen City
"While this will be the eighth Scottish Grand Départ in modern Tour history, this stage will mark the furthest north the race has ever started. Stage one will begin in Aberdeen city centre, where a full weekend of activities, including the Scottish Cycling Criterium Championships, is planned.
Not only will this stage feature an entirely new route compared to last year’s finale in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, it will also include the first-ever opening day summit finish in modern race history. The Old Military Road climb from Auchallater to Glenshee Ski Centre measures 9.1 kilometres long, with the final five kilometres averaging a gradient of 4.8%."
The Midsummer Beer Happening 16-18 June, 2022
Not just a beer festival but also the opportunity to take part in a 55- 100 mile cycling sportive, including climbing the iconic Cairn O'Mount (just a few miles from Sandy's). This is a not-for-profit event to raise money for local charities, so why not have fun for a good cause?
Canicross Aberdeenshire run events across the shire and welcome fellow canicross members from across the UK to participate. The next local event is in November 2022, at Castle Fraser, 11 miles (30 min drive) from Sandy's.
DoonthaBrae - Ride Aberdeenshire Enduro Events
Enduro is a form of mountain bike racing, that started out in Europe with influence from car rally racing and motorbike enduro racing. The concept was simple: get yourself to the top of a mountain and race to the bottom time-trial style.
