Crathes Castle Parkrun - every Saturday at 09:30am, just over 4 miles (10 min drive) from Sandy's. A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you!
Aboyne (12 miles west) also hosts a parkrun at Castle Woods.

April 2026 - A series of events across the weekend, including 5K, 10K, duatholon and a 15mile trail race. Events takes place across the grounds and estate of His Majesty the King's private Scottish residence - Balmoral Castle.

explorr is Scotland’s newest outdoor endurance festival, taking place on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park in Banchory from 28–30 August 2026. Built around gravel cycling and gravel running, the weekend combines racing with live music, talks, films, great food and a strong community atmosphere. Serious about sport. Open to all abilities. DoonthaBrae - Ride Aberdeenshire Enduro Events
Enduro is a form of mountain bike racing, that started out in Europe with influence from car rally racing and motorbike enduro racing. The concept was simple: get yourself to the top of a mountain and race to the bottom time-trial style.
